Roman Reigns & Kevin Owens Segment

New #1 Contender Roman Reigns comes out and they show a recap of Reigns winning the number one contenders Fatal 4-Way match on RAW. Reigns talks about how his one goal has been to be WWE World Heavyweight champion. Reigns says he’s back on track after taking out Bray Wyatt. As he starts to talk about Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens interrupts.

Owens says that on RAW, Reigns stole the number one contenders spot from him. Owens says that this isn’t a great story and it’s just a fluke. Owens says he should be the top contender and mocks Reigns’ “Believe That” catchphrase. Reigns tells Owens not to talk Owens talk, but to fight Owens fight. Owens obliges and this match will be the first on tonight’s SmackDown.

Roman Reigns vs. Kevin Owens (Non-Title Match)

Result: Reigns def. Owens via count-out.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars

Owens and Reigns start with a staredown and trade headlocks. Reigns explodes through a shoulder tackle and knocks Owens down. Reigns is in control as we head to commercial.

Back from the break and Reigns still in control of KO. Owens gets the upper hand and tosses Reigns into the barricade at ringside. He hits a fall away slam to Reigns, tossing him into the barricade again. Reigns catches Owens taunting and hits Owens with corner clotheslines and big boot for a two count.

Owens reverses a powerbomb and connects with a super kick, but only gets a two. Owens attempts to hit a Cannon Ball but Reigns pops up and hits Owens with a lariat. Owens rolls out and tries to walk away, but Reigns drags him back to the ring. Reigns puts Owens on the top turnbuckle and goes for a superplex. Owens fights out of it, but Reigns hits him with a Superman Punch. Owens falls out to the outside. Owens gets up at a count of 6, but decides to grab his title and leave through the crowd, giving Reigns the count-out victory.

Evan’s Note: These two could have a fantastic extended rivalry in the near future. Owens can carry them verbally and they have good natural chemistry between the ropes. I hope they have a program soon, maybe even the World Heavyweight Championship.
