Alberto Del Rio – 1%

Sorry Alberto, but it’s just not happening.

I can’t in good conscience give Del Rio a 0% chance because logically, he technically has a chance by virtue of still being in the tournament. But with him holding the United States Championship and having just returned to WWE, it doesn’t seem like a world title reign is in his immediate future.

There are many reasons why it isn’t in the cards for Del Rio just yet, so let’s look at them one by one.

  1. He has a feud waiting in the wings for after Survivor Series, as he will likely begin a program with Jack Swagger over the United States Championship.
  2. Seth Rollins being the first ever WWE and U.S. Champion was made out to be a huge deal by The Authority, so it’s nearly impossible that WWE would book someone else to accomplish the same feat so shortly after Rollins’ injury, especially someone who isn’t aligned with The Authority in any way.
  3. It is rumored that John Cena’s first feud once he returns from his time off will be with Del Rio over the U.S. title. It makes logical sense, as Cena isn’t going to simply forget about being beaten for a title that means so much to him. The WWE World Heavyweight Championship would seemingly be a throw-in during that feud if Del Rio were to have it, and that simply can’t be the case.
  4. Roman Reigns is being pushed, that much is obvious. It’s not necessarily a guarantee that he ends up champion this Sunday, but him at least making it to the finals is a virtual guarantee. I would give Del Rio a slightly higher chance at becoming champion (perhaps 2%), if he were on the other side of the bracket. That way Roman would still be in the finals, and maybe he’d lose via some sort of shenanigans. Probably not though.

Sorry Del Rio. You probably have another world title reign in your future, but it is certainly not the near future.
