WWE Survivor Series 2015: Odds For Each Superstar to Win Title Tournament

Kevin Owens – 9%
There is one thing Kevin Owens has that keeps me from believing he has a good chance of winning the tournament this Sunday, and that is the Intercontinental Championship.
Owens has everything WWE needs right now. He is a believable heel who has both the ring and mic skills to make it as WWE Champion. In fact, he’s one of the only heels on the roster who is booked as if he has any chance to win the world title anytime soon. If Owens were currently without a title, I would give him a higher percentage chance to walk out of Survivor Series as champion, but sadly that is not the case.
If Owens were to hold both the Intercontinental and WWE World Heavyweight Championships, the IC title would become a weird accessory. Admittedly, I had the same logic before SummerSlam when Seth was challenging for the U.S. title (I was positive he would lose), but that at least had a clear path from which to go. Cena had a rematch clause for the U.S. title, while Sting established himself as Rollins’ new challenger for the WHC. But it wouldn’t be so easy for Owens, as he has no clear challenger for the IC title. If he came out as champion this Sunday, what then? Who in their right mind would say “Hey Owens, I want to challenge you for the Intercontinental title, but not the WWE title.” And if anyone wanted to challenge for the WWE title and not the Intercontinental, then that makes the IC title look worthless. And if someone wanted to challenge for both, the titles would basically be unified, and there’s no point in that.
As great as Owens would be (and eventually WILL be) as champion, the lack of direction WWE would have with him as a dual champion is why he doesn’t have much of a shot to come out on top Sunday.
