5) Hulk Hogan, Jake Roberts & Demolition (1989)

This is going back a bit, but it should be noted how popular Demotion was back in the day, initially heels, by the time this Survivor Series rolled around they had turned face, when their manager Mr. Fuji double-crossed them, joining up with the Powers of Pain.

Jake was always a popular staple in the upper-midcard, so his presence definitely boosted this team’s status. At the time, he was feuding with Ted DiBiase, partly because DiBiase tried to steal his snake, Damien! Finally, this team had Hulk Hogan, who was still the most over guy in 1989, tough to leave Hogan off any popularity list that includes the 1980’s, and not surprisingly, he was the sole survivor in this match.

In total, Demolition went on to hold the WWE tag titles three times, including the longest single reign ever (478 days) and the most combined days at 698. Jake Roberts has built a legacy of being one of the best promos ever, eventually being inducted in the Hall of Fame in 2014. Hogan has managed to completely implode his career, thanks to his personal life mistakes, but he is still one of the greatest wrestlers ever, being a major part of bringing it out of the territories and making it a global commodity. Hogan is a 6-time WWE world champ and was inducted in their Hall of Fame in 2005.
