Owens and Del Rio lose out, that’s bad for business

In the semi finals of the title tournament you had both your Intercontinental and United States Champions, neither man made it to the final. Why put them in that spot to job in the semi’s?

Del Rio lost to Roman Reigns and Owens lost to Dean Ambrose. If you wanted both of those men in your final why not give a couple of other faces the spot of getting beaten just before the final? You could happily not have had either of your other champions in the competition if neither one of them has a chance of winning? You’d have been better off not bothering to enter them and let them defend their belts instead.

Owens is probably the hottest property in the company. Del Rio has just returned and beat one of the biggest men in the company in his comeback. Having them in forgettable matches does little for either man and only devalues their belts that bit more. The two belts they hold should automatically entitle them to be number one contenders for the World Heavyweight Championship, they didn’t need to be involved if they weren’t going to win the big one.

The only thing that happens with those losses is that the belts they hold mean even less now. If the two men who are meant to be you second tier champions cannot beat Reigns and Ambrose what does that say about them and the titles they hold. Having all three belts in the company held by heels is interesting, it just strikes me as time that Owens is allowed to break through that glass ceiling and gets his hands on the World Heavyweight Championship.
