The death of the Elimination Match
Survivor Series. The great event where you always saw some epic 5 on 5 matches featuring some epic teams. Now it seems that’s all forgotten and we just get some throwaway elimination matches. The best of which didn’t even make it on the pay per view.
What was once a great tradition was relegated to an inconvenience. Down the years we’ve seen some of the best matches at the year featuring ten men at Survivor Series. What we saw as 5 on 5 this time round were literally thrown together at the last minute.
On the pre show a load of wrestlers were thrown together to face each other and then The New Day had Sheamus and King Barrett pushed along with them against a collection of random baby faces. Hardly the makings of a great match. The highlight of the elimination match on the pre show was the surprise appearance of Goldust. Men like Neville, The Dudleys and The Ascension should be in feuds that mean something, not just thrown out their with little by the way of story lines.

What was once a proud tradition has been reduced to nothing of note. In the past we saw teams of great champions face off against each other. In the last few years we’ve seen the entire companies future be on the line in these kind of matches, now it would appear that nearly thirty years of history and tradition count for little or nothing.
