An Open Letter to Vince McMahon About WWE’s Programming

An open letter to Vince McMahon from a former WWE fan.

Dear Vince McMahon,

I realize that this letter may not reach you because of the quintessential yes men that you surround yourself with. The same yes men that tell you that nothing is wrong with your product. A product that has reached depths far beyond stale. For this letter, it is to serve as a story. A story that I want you, Vince, to listen to.

More from WWE

It was the Monday after the Survivor Series pay-per view. A once great PPV that has turned into a burden to watch.

Per the norm on Monday night, I have a series recording set up for Monday Night Raw. Given the lack of detail and logic that are put into storylines, there is no way, Vince, that you can expect a sane fan to watch three hours of Raw with commercial breaks in between. That would be why I record it. Record it with the intent of watching it at the end of the night and fast forwarding through the commercial breaks and forced segments. Even then, I was willing to give you the benefit of the doubt.

But, that changed last Monday night.

As I scrolled through my DVR selections last Monday night and clicked on Raw, I did not click the play button. Instead, I clicked the x button to delete the program from my DVR. I did not watch Raw last Monday and chances are that I will not watch Monday Night Raw tonight.

Now, Vince, I want you to realize that this is not the end of my relationship with WWE. WWE will always be a part of me. But, I have lost the pride that I once had to be a WWE fan. The pride that made me willing to defend WWE to anyone that simply shot it down because it was fake. As of this moment, I am embarrassed. Embarrassed to admit that I remain a fan of WWE. That would be why I’m taking a break from WWE. A break that I hope leads to me seeing changes when I return. I’m not sure when that return will be but chances are it won’t be until 2016.

In the meantime, Vince, you can catch up with me on Wednesday nights during NXT. Vince, your daughter and son-in-law have hit a gold mine. It’s simply a shame that your ignorant eyes won’t let you see that.

As I conclude this letter, Vince, I also realize this could be our last interaction. Because, as I write this, I realize that things in WWE will not change until you hand your control over to your aforementioned family members. That is what WWE needs. That is when, perhaps, I will return to WWE programming.

But for now, Vince and all your stubbornness, I bid you adieu.
