WCW World Heavyweight Championship Match
The Giant (c) vs. Scott Norton

Result The Giant wins via pinfall.

Rating 0.5 out of 5 stars

Norton had his issues with The Giant (Big Show) the previous week but he ain’t scared.

During the intros we have the countdown to the second hour of the show, cue a lot more pyro and the introduction of commentators Eric Bischoff and Bobby Heenan, then the Giant comes out with Jimmy Hart. 7 feet 4 inches tall, 474 pounds, we get it, Eric, he’s a large man, shame he can’t really wrestle that well.

Norton tries to sucker punch Giant, boy was that a bad idea. Giant takes over, batters him with punches, kicks and slams. Norton hits a couple of splashes then gets hit with a big boot.

The match heads to the outside, Norton gets a choke in before Giant hits the worst chokeslam in the history of choke slams on the concrete floor. Giant rolls him back into the ring and gets the win.

Lex Luger comes out to attack the Giant. Luger currently holds the Tag belts and the TV Championship and is set to face Giant at Great American Bash for the Heavyweight belt. Luger gets beaten down but retaliates with outside objects and runs away to the commentary table. He shouts about the Giant feeling pain at the Bash.

Carl’s Take: This match lasted a lot longer than most of the title defences from the Giant but it still wasn’t great. If he weren’t the size he is I don’t think he’d even be in wrestling. I can’t wait to see him vs. Luger.
