Billy Kidman vs. Steven Regal

Result Regal wins via submission

Rating 1.0 out of 5 stars

Regal gets the early advantage before Kidman hits speed moves. Kidman misses a somersault splash before Regal hits a massive suplex then a Boston Crab style submission for the win.

Carl’s take: A quick win for one of the best technicians in the company. Kidman looks like a good prospect for the cruiserweight division.

After the bell rings Sting makes his way out to attack Regal. The 2 of them will face each other in a few days. Regal sells the attack like only he can, he really is the best heel around.

The Nasty Boys vs. The Public Enemy

Result Public Enemy win by DQ.

Rating 0.2 out of 5 stars

Public enemy jump-started the match early, this is going to be awful. Even Bischoff tells you it’s not going to be great on commentary.

Nasty Boys are in the company because they’re mates with Hogan. Public Enemy were massive in ECW, they seem to be struggling in WCW though.

This basically an arena-wide brawl, there’s not going to be many actual wrestling moves on the show.  The teams pair off. There’s lots of punching and kicking on the outside then an actual tag match starts in the ring.

Nasty Boys make quick tags on Johnny Grunge (who’s got a broken hand). Rocko Rock tags in but both men are taken out by Saggs.

Saggs hits a dangerous looking piledriver on Grunge in the ring as Rock and Knobbs battle on the outside. We come back from a commercial with the Public Enemy on top and the arena filled with boos. Watching this match is like watching tag teams in slow motion, it’s awful.

Public Enemy gets the advantage, double teaming Knobbs before he tags in Saggs, who gets a 2 count on Rocko Rock. Grunge takes a bandage off his broken hand as Rocko comes back with a trash can, Knobbs takes him out.

Saggs hits a pump handle slam on Rocko as Knobbs waits on the top rope, Grunge tries to throw him off but Knobbs falls off all by himself, I think he was meant to hit him with the cast on his arm. Knobbs kicks out at 2. It all falls apart as the Nasties bring in the trash can to lose the match by DQ.

Carl’s Take: This really was an awful match. If Botchamania had been around in 1996 this would have made up an entire episode on its own. Neither team should be in wrestling, I’m shocked that nobody ever got seriously injured facing them.

We see the Hulk Hogan promo we keep seeing every week, he’s coming back soon folks.
