WCW Tag Team Championship
Sting (c) and Lex Luger vs. Ric Flair and Arn Anderson

Result Luger and Sting win via DQ.

Rating 2.0 out of 5 stars

This match was made after Flair and Anderson took out their already scheduled opponents earlier in the night. It featured 3 of the best in wrestling history and Lex Luger.

Flair starts out against Luger. Luger no sells punches and chops from Flair then hits a military press and a couple of clotheslines on Flair. Anderson tries to interfere and then he and Flair bail out of the ring.

Flair gets back in, gets beaten down and hits his patented corner bump. Sting gets a punch in on the apron. Luger hits a stalling suplex then misses an elbow drop. Anderson tags in, then so does Sting, that stops the Horseman in his blocks. Sting takes control, upping the pace.

Anderson calls for the timeout in the aisle as we hit commercial.

We come back to see Luger and Sting on top of Anderson. Sting gets a 2 count before Flair tags in. Flair gets the better with chops then Sting misses a Stinger splash, Flair goes to the top but then gets tossed back into the ring for the millionth time. Sting hits the superplex from the top rope. Flair rakes his eyes then tags Arn in.

Ric and Arn are great heels. Anderson gets a couple of 2 counts on Sting, Sting gets a low blow to take out Anderson. Flair takes over tries a suplex but his back is hurt and he can’t manage it. A Sting roll up is broken by Anderson. Sting gets a pin but the ref’s back is turned.

Sting and Flair exchange 2 counts. Anderson attempts a splash from the corner only for Sting to get his knees up. Luger tags in, only to no sell Flair’s offence. Luger is hot here, gets a double clothesline on both opponents, then The Giant comes out and we all fall asleep.

Giant hits Luger and lays him out, this brings out Scott Steiner to make the save. He hits the Giant with a wooden folding chair, I’ve watched wrestling for more than 20 years and this is the only time I can think of that I’ve seen a wooden chair shot. Then Sting and Luger join in the beating. Giant goes crazy and beats them all off. Mean Gene talks to Giant and Hart at ringside, the Giant shouts and snarls about the title match with Luger.

This era of WCW makes some instantly forgettable tv, but what happens next is one of the biggest moments in wrestling history.
