Roman Reigns vs. Alberto Del Rio

Result: Match ends in a no contest.

Rating: 2.8 out of 5 stars

Reigns started with a shoulder tackle on Del Rio and escaped to the apron. Del Rio then brought Reigns into the corner, kicked him in the back and threw multiple punches. Reigns fought back with a flurry of punches to the head of Del Rio.

Reigns hit a shoulder tackle but got kicked in the gut by Del Rio. The U.S. Champion would get a near-fall after a dropkick to the back.

Del Rio hit multiple knees to the chest but got hit with a clothesline. Reigns hit a suplex for a near-fall.

Del Rio hit an axe handle off the top rope for a near-fall. He then tossed Reigns down and hit him in the head. Roman then clotheslined him out of the ring. While distracted by Sheamus, Del Rio would come up from behind and shove Reigns into the steps.

We come back to see Del Rio hitting an axe handle off the top rope and putting Reigns in a hold. Reigns would hit a punch and bring Del Rio to the top rope. However, ADR would hold the arm of Reigns over the top rope and wouldn’t let go. Reigns would punch him out of the ring.

Reigns hit a Samoan Drop to even things.

The two began to trade punches back and forth until Reigns hit a flying clothesline. He then threw a flurry of clotheslines in the corner. This was followed by a big boot and a missed Superman Punch. Del Rio hit the backstabber for a near-fall.

Reigns would slam Del Rio down for a near-fall.

Del Rio would hit an enziguri for a near-fall.

Reigns would hit the Superman Punch but the League of Nations members pulled Del Rio out of the ring before he could get speared. Things would break down outside the ring to cause a DQ.

Rob’s Note: This was a pretty solid match. Not a huge complaint with the DQ finish, as it protects both guys going into Sunday. However, Reigns really needs to work on his selling. The armbar that Del Rio locked in only affected him for maybe two minutes when it should have hurt him for the majority of the bout.
