Bull Dempsey vs. Tye Dillinger

Who says that WWE can’t do comedy matches? This was a perfect example of how you can get two men over with a little hint of hilarity. I have to admit that I’m not a massive fan of either man, but I came away from this with a new found respect for them both.

Bull Dempsey plays his role perfectly. When he first came into NXT the tried to book him as more of a monster but the move to the comedic element has seen him flourish somewhat. Pre-match he runs the ropes for a short while before selling the fact he’s tired, it’s a simple thing but really gets you into the character. Dillinger is a man that has a brilliant thing going with the “Perfect 10” gimmick. It gives him an instant connection with the crowd, who love chanting “10, 10, 10, 10” at him. That Perfect 10 stuff is the majority of his matches and against Bull they played it brilliantly.

Some shenanigans saw Dillinger pull out his 10 sign, only for Bull to rip it up. Dillinger pulled a smaller sign out only for Bull to insert it inside his singlet. That came back to haunt Dillinger a short while later when it was removed and inserted into Dillinger’s mouth for a big pop.

Dempsey got the win after some big power moves and was greeted with a good reaction from the live crowd. One thing that is missing from WWE is the comedy side of things, this match goes to prove that there is a spot for it in the current wrestling world.
