Should Brock Lesnar Get Another WWE Title Reign in 2016?
By Carl Gac
At a time when WWE needs all their big stars on the card, we take a look at whether Brock Lesnar should get another WWE Title reign in 2016?
With the loss of Seth Rollins due to injury and the ensuing mess of the WWE World Heavyweight title picture involving Sheamus and Roman Reigns, heading into 2016 WWE is in one of the worst positions it has been for a long time. With a startling lack of big stars at the top of the card, arguably only John Cena and Brock Lesnar could be called that, it’s time for The Beast Incarnate to receive another reign with the WWE Championship.
When Brock held the title in 2014 and into 2015 many people criticised the fact he was given the top belt in the company. How could, what is basically a part-time guy, hold the belt and represent the company if he weren’t on every show? If he weren’t the guy that made appearances here there and everywhere in the style of Cena how could you pin your belt to him? Easily is the answer to those questions.

In all his appearances in the ring, you see stuff that makes him stand out from the crowd. Brock is one of the few heavyweight wrestlers who actually excites me. If you don’t like seeing him throw people around like a rag doll that’s fine, but to me that shows his dominance over his opponents. If you think he shouldn’t be the champion because he isn’t on every show, it’s not necessarily a bad thing. If he comes in to defend his belt and set up the next title feud, without the need to see him wrestle every week then that builds up the mystique of the man and in turn that builds up the belt as something worth fighting for.
As much as I love Seth Rollins seeing him wrestling on Raw and SmackDown every week, sometimes more than once on each show, pushes him down to the same level as every other guy on the roster. Only seeing your Champion when it makes sense and he is needed for a reason, makes him and the belt mean more than having him devalue the belt by losing more often than not on TV.

At present, we’re seeing an awful slump in tv ratings. One of the best ways to start to improve them would be to have Brock hold the belt for a long time. Build up one particular guy, I’d even say Roman Reigns as a legitimate challenger for him and you instantly have a more feud.
Back in the day ECW did something like this perfectly. Taz called out Sabu for the better part of a year but never got close to battling him. They built up the feud without ever having the two men get near each other, then when they eventually got the chance to square off in the ring it was the main selling point for the first ever ECW pay-per-view in 1997. By the time they got their hands on each other the crowd and the two men were so hyped for the match, it made it a must-see event.
If you built Brock vs. any good baby face and did something similar by the time they faced each other you’d have a match that people would be desperate to see. You could pretty well guess that literally nobody is even remotely bothered about seeing Reigns vs Sheamus at TLC in the very near future, with the thrown-together nature of the current WWE booking and that neither man is a particularly great character it doesn’t equal a must-see feud or match.
