Samoa Joe Promo

The new NXT Champion came down to the ring and said he’s a man who keeps his word. Despite the best efforts of Finn Balor, Joe was the inevitable, and now he’s the champ. It’s his time, and he runs things, and anyone who has a problem with that could come down and get choked out.

Answering the challenge, Eric Young made his surprise debut in NXT. Young says Joe knows him, and he knows Joe. Young says the only thing in life that’s guaranteed  is change, and things are about to change. Young says  he collects championships, and stares down Joe.

Joe left the ring and from the ramp told Young that he didn’t even belong in the same building as Joe. The next time they were in the same building, though, Joe would be sure to beat down EY.

Bryan’s Thoughts: Not who you would expect to see coming down the ramp at NXT, but Eric Young debuts and instantly enters the title picture – even if just temporarily. He’s a former world champion, and he should present himself as an immediate threat – depending on how he’s used.

Joe needs a ready-made challenger that is someone other than Finn Balor, and right now, there aren’t many options on the NXT roster proper. Everyone has either been called up to Raw, or isn’t quite ready to challenge a monster yet. If that means bringing in a veteran who recently finished up with TNA, so be it.

I know a lot of people are against this whole “NXTNA” thing that seems to be happening, but it’s really a necessary evil. Until some of the young kids start to get more time under their belts, guys like Young, Aries, and Nakamura need to fill the void and provide challengers for the other top guys. If you’re concerned about how guys are being developed, look at the tag team division and realize that almost all of the wrestlers involved there are growing by leaps and bounds. American Alpha, The Revival, Hype Bros, even Blake and Murphy – all are on the upswing, really.

It’ll be fine, everybody.
