WWE NXT Review: Results, Analysis, and Grades for May 4; Samoa Joe vs. Eric Young
By Bryan Heaton
The Revival (Dash and Dawson) vs. Hype Bros (Zack Ryder and Mojo Rawley)
Result: The Revival defeated Hype Bros via pinfall
Rating: 2.6 out of 5 stars
As mentioned above, The Revival and Hype Bros were both victorious on last week’s episode of NXT – but The Revival jumped the Hype Bros after their victory.
Turning Points: The Revival took an early advantage when Dash Wilder was able to stop Ryder from hitting a high-flying move.
Dash and Dawson demonstrated why they were long-reigning NXT Tag Team Champions by displaying some impressive teamwork.
Ryder was isolated for much. of the match, but he made a hot tag to Mojo Rawley, who immediately went to work on Dash.
Dawson made a blind tag, and he and Dash hit a Shatter Machine for the victory.
Bryan’s Thoughts: I’m a big fan of The Revival constantly showing off how good of a team they are. Isolating Ryder for such a long portion of the match was a part of it,, but the best part was the blind tag at the end. Rawley – who’s developing into something of a good hot tag – had no idea that he was doomed until he was eating a Shatter Machine for dinner. Dawson especially has some of the best ring awareness of any superstar in NXT – he was smart enough to make the blind tag, get into position for the Shatter Machine, and remind Dash who the legal man was for the pinfall. Absolutely great.
Alex Riley Backstage
Riley emerges from what I can only imagine is a dream world, because he has no fear in facing Shinsuke Nakamura next week. He says he doesn’t know what “strong style” is, and dismisses Nakamura as a guy with no athletic skill or coordination who is just going to try and punch him in the face hard. Riley says that next week, he’ll rage on Nakamura.
