Big Cass Seems Like Third Wheel in WWE

With Enzo Amore still recovering from a concussion, Colin Cassady (a.k.a. Big Cass) has been booked as somewhat of a third wheel in other feuds.

Ever since Colin Cassady debuted with Enzo Amore on WWE Raw last month, I was excited to see a brand new addition to the WWE Tag Team Division. Along with the Vaudevillians – Simon Gotch and Aiden English – it looked like one of the best call-ups in recent WWE history. However, Amore’s injury at Payback sort of hurt the tag team’s momentum.

This has also sort of impacted Big Cass, who has sort of felt like a third wheel in other storylines. For example, he was involved in the storyline between Dean Ambrose and Chris Jericho; helping keep Jericho from running away and allowing Ambrose to destroy the “$15,000” Lite-Brite jacket. While there is plenty of potential for Big Cass in the WWE, it just seems like he’s been lost in the shuffle since Amore had to take time off television to recover.

This is a minor blip since we’re likely going to see the team reunite shortly after Extreme Rules; maybe restarting the rivalry with English and Gotch to continue the storyline that was starting. Or maybe they go back to feuding with the Dudley Boyz. What would have been a great idea was for Cass to continue feuding with either the Vaudevillians or the Dudleys – maybe a series of singles matches until Amore returns to television.

Having him come out during Jericho’s Highlight Reel was somewhat random and once again allows Jericho a chance to work with someone from the new generation; which seems to be his current job in the WWE card. However, the WWE needs to be careful in not having Big Cass end up being over as a singles star if they want to keep the Enzo and Cass tag team going for a long-term.

At the same time, the WWE probably has big plans for the tag team and wants to keep some form of momentum. The two made such a big impact in the WWE television debuts that has continued in the weeks since; which sort of comes as a surprise because the crowds after WrestleMania week usually come off a little bit weaker in terms of pops. The WWE Universe is loving these guys because they have they already have the “it factor,” and you can’t teach that.

If Enzo Amore is going to be out for a few more weeks, maybe Big Cass can become an enforcer to help the New Day; or maybe he challenges each of the Dudleys to singles matches. Obviously, the worst thing the WWE creative team can do is just take him off of television and kill any momentum the team had built for the past month.

At the same time, making Big Cass the third wheel of other storylines doesn’t come off with the result that the WWE creative team was hoping for; now what that result they were looking for is still unknown to someone like me. Either way, keep the team relevant and let the two continue their push with a possible WWE Tag Team Championship match in their immediate futures.
