Finn Balor’s WWE Debut Teases Helps Possible Heel Run
Finn Balor’s numerous teases about his WWE debut may only be garnering him heat, which could be a good thing.
For weeks, maybe even months, there has been speculation about Finn Balor coming to the WWE main roster. It started when Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows were rumored to be coming to the company in January, and has continued well past their debut in April.
As we close the month of May, Balor still isn’t on Raw and SmackDown, but he’s keeping up his presence on social media to tell everyone it’s close. The only thing is he has done this for months.

At first, the teases from Balor were interesting. Was he close to debuting? Would it be with Gallows and Anderson to reform the Bullet Club? Could it happen on the night after WrestleMania 32? These were questions fans asked daily, and couldn’t wait for the debut.
Nothing has come of these teases from Finn, though. The same will go for this Tweet he posted on Tuesday.
The prediction by fans is that Balor is going to debut as a heel with the former IWGP Tag Team Champions. One would think the Demon will have no heat on the main roster because of his popularity in NXT. In all likelihood, that’s going to remain the case, but could these Tweets actually help him as a heel?
Take for example what Seth Rollins did in his return promo. WWE anticipated that he would get overwhelmingly positive cheers, which turned out to be the case. Rollins took them all in and pandered to the crowd when he walked out to the ring. It lasted about two minutes, though, as he turned on the fans, saying how they booed him during his WWE World Heavyweight Championship run and never supported him until the injury.
As the video shows, this worked, despite Roman Reigns walking out a few minutes later and being booed out of the state of New Jersey.
If WWE is going to keep Balor as a heel, using a strategy somewhat similar to this could work.
When the former NXT Champion debuts, he’s going to get an ovation from the crowd, even if what he’s doing is heel-like (attacking AJ Styles). He’ll stand tall with Anderson and Gallows to either close a segment or a show.

At the next event, WWE could give Balor a microphone. Before that, the fans could let out all their cheers for him during the entrance and the first few moments he steps in the ring. He could talk about finally being in front of 10,000 fans on Raw and SmackDown every week and appreciate the opportunity finally being given.
However, Balor could then turn on the fans, saying he knew when the day was coming, but just wanted to fool the WWE Universe on social media. He could talk about having the fans in the palm of his hands, only to let them down multiple times. Then, when he finally showed up, he attacked the fans’ beloved AJ Styles. Balor could finish with, “Are you happy now?”

This should garner some heat on Finn Balor, who will need it as a heel. It’s a creative way of doing this when he’s guaranteed to be getting cheered by the fans. Most of them—even the casual fans—know who Balor is and are going to want to root for him. Could this simple strategy work?
