Here are 5 current and former WWE superstars who would agree with AJ Styles that John Cena buries his opponents.

“Bury”:  the worked lowering (relegation) of a popular wrestler’s status in the eyes of the fans.

The word “bury” means something very specific in professional wrestling terms, and it only occasionally has to do with all of the guys Undertaker has literally put in coffins. The word has never been mentioned more in wrestling circles than it has been this week since AJ Styles threw it in the face of John Cena on the June 6th episode of Raw.

“…once you wrestle John Cena and lose, everybody who knows this place knows it’s time to get out the shovels because guys like you, bury guys like me.”

Ouch. Fans have been screaming for years that top stars like Cena frequently “bury” whoever the hot young star is, usually in an effort to maintain their spot on the roster. Triple H, Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, Stone Cold Steve Austin, they’ve all been accused of it at one time or another.

Cena has been the subject of these complaints more than the rest of them, and clearly WWE recognizes it, which is why they have Styles bringing it up. There are probably some legit sour grapes there, although it’s a little odd for a newbie on the roster to make it. There are tons of guys on the roster right now who can lay claim to being buried by Cena, and plenty more no longer with the company, having never recovered after a one-sided feud with Mr. Hustle Loyalty Respect. Here are five in no particular order. They all got screwed so why rank them? They’ve suffered enough.
