WWE Battleground 2016: Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn is Most Anticipated Match
Battleground has multiple big name match ups for this card. However, Sami Zayn vs Kevin Owens is certainly one of the most anticipated.
Battleground has lots of intriguing matchups this weekend. With the brand split occurring earlier this week, Raw and SmackDown now feature unique rosters. This has changed the landscape of WWE and will for many years to come. It will be the last time many of these superstars share the same ring for quite some time. Many teams too, will be broken up after this pay per view. Luckily for fans, both Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, as well as their outstanding rivalry, will remain on the Raw roster together.
A rivalry built upon jealousy and greed will come full swing this Sunday. One of the most notable feuds in WWE over the past year or so has been that of Zayn and Owens. Their rivalry over the past couple of months has cost them both matches; matches with some serious ramifications behind them. This Sunday at WWE Battleground, Zayn and Owens will battle again “once and for all” they have claimed.

The in and out of ring talents both of these men possess are why this has the chance to steal the show this Sunday. It is certainly the most intriguing singles match up WWE has on the card. These men have been friends since they first began wrestling together. They met back in 2002.
Their rivalry stems back all the way back to their NXT days, when Owens maliciously beat Zayn after winning the title. Zayn claiming Owens was jealous of him due to the fact that he made it to WWE sooner than did Owens. To which Owens responded that it was, in fact, Zayn who was the jealous one. Owens had been called up to the main roster before Zayn had.

These men have cost each other so much over the past couple of months. Costing each other WWE title opportunities, Royal Rumble Victories, Intercontinental Championships, Money in the Bank contracts, and the list goes on. Owens claimed that it was being a champion and striving to be the best that got in the way of their once great friendship.
It was finally said on Raw a few weeks prior, that Zayn wanted to challenge Owens once and for all, so that both men may get on with their respective careers. A wise and yet bold decision by Zayn. He has not fared well in one on one competition vs Owens. Owens defeated Zayn at WWE Payback just a few short months ago.
I would have like to see them drafted to separate shows, so they may revisit this feud perhaps a few years down the road, which could still be the case. But odds are they will face each other again, especially if Zayn were to win this match up. They would then be tied at one match a piece since both were called up to the main roster.

With all of the bad blood these two have shown this year, and the in-ring abilities of both superstars, this has the makings to be a tremendous and entertaining match up at Battleground. There should be plenty of high flying as both will look to succeed this Sunday.
