WWE Battleground 2016: Predictions

Intercontinental Championship:
The Miz (with Maryse) (c) vs. Darren Young (with Bob Backland)

This is a very difficult match to predict.  On one hand, you have the issue of The Miz being on SmackDown and Daren Young being on Raw.  As I mentioned in the United States Championship it makes little sense to change either title to a different brand being less than one week into the separate brands.

The other side, however, is that Darren Young has been getting a huge buildup with the take of what could be the next President Of The United States and WWE Hall of Famer Donald Trump’s “Make America Great Again”.  Months we’ve seen Bob Backland train Darren Young in very humorous skits where Mr. Backland doesn’t understand modern technology or conviences. All the while purporting to make Darren Young Great again through various drills.

In the end, I think the former argument of not having a title change in the midst of a brand split makes the most sense.  It would make it difficult for The Miz to get his rematch and erase the point of the draft or separate brands, to begin with.  Darren Young will be great again, but like most politicians, he will have to take a few steps back before going forward.
