How Brock Lesnar Should Be Used After WWE SummerSlam 2016

With all the controversy surrounding Brock Lesnar after his UFC return and drug violations, the WWE can use this attention to help put over talent.

Despite beating Mark Hunt at UFC 200, Brock Lesnar’s return to the octagon won’t be remembered as a success. It will instead be remembered for the things that happened outside of the octagon.

Only a few days after UFC 200, the promotion announced Lesnar had failed a drug test prior to his fight with Mark Hunt. Less than a week later, news broke out surrounding a second failed drug test for Lesnar on the night of his fight.

Even though the WWE is known for having a strict policy against drug use, the company has announced that Lesnar will not be disciplined because the wellness policy does not apply to part-time wrestlers. This decision is not sitting well with fans who believe the WWE should punish Lesnar the same way Roman Reigns was for his wellness violation.

Whether people agree with this decision or not, Lesnar is still set to take on Randy Orton at SummerSlam on August 21st. Both superstars have recently returned to the WWE and have spent the last few weeks building up their SummerSlam feud.

With all the controversy surrounding Lesnar, the WWE would be wise to take advantage of the extra attention. The former WWE champion is at a special point in his career, where he can be booked to lose and still be a huge draw for the WWE.

Having Lesnar’s feud with Orton extend past SummerSlam would be a poor decision for the company. Neither wrestler in this feud has anything to prove. Both Orton and Lesnar have cemented their place in the company and are future hall of famers.

More from Brock Lesnar

Lesnar’s limited appearances as a part-timer would be better used to help put over superstars that really need a strong push. One superstar that could benefit from a program with Lesnar is Bray Wyatt.

The head of The Wyatt Family is currently one of the most popular heels in the entire company. He can cut amazing promos on the mic and put on great matches in the ring. One of the things that have hindered Wyatt’s place at the top is the company’s booking.

While Wyatt has had a few memorable feuds during his career in the WWE, he has rarely won any of those feuds. Key losses in feuds to people like John Cena, The Undertaker, and Roman Reigns have prevented Wyatt from being seen as a credible main event guy.

Wyatt’s momentum has also been slowed down by injuries. After suffering a right calf injury at a live event in April, Wyatt made his return to the WWE about a month later where he and the rest of the Wyatt Family entered a feud with The New Day.

Instead of having The Wyatt Family win the tag team titles from The New Day, the company decided to make their match at Battleground, a non-title match. The Wyatt Family managed to pick up the win over The New Day at Battleground, but that match turned out to be the end of their feud.

Prior to the match at Battleground, the WWE Draft occurred and The Wyatt Family were split up and put on different shows. Bray Wyatt and Erick Rowan were drafted to SmackDown, while Braun Strowman was drafted to Monday Night Raw.

Breaking up The Wyatt Family didn’t seem like a smart decision for the WWE at the time, but it now looks like Bray Wyatt is headed for a strong single’s push. Even though Wyatt isn’t ready to compete for the WWE championship yet, he can benefit from working with someone like Brock Lesnar.

Wyatt has worked with Lesnar in the past, but it did little to elevate Wyatt because he never faced off with Lesnar one-on-one. Their match at Roadblock was booked as a two-on-one handicap match, where Wyatt never stepped foot in the ring. The entire match was worked between Lesnar and Luke Harper with Wyatt watching from the outside.

A feud between Lesnar and Wyatt would be huge for the WWE. With Paul Heyman as Lesnar’s mouthpiece, Wyatt can continue to cut amazing promos without the fear of having Lesnar struggle on the mic.

Both superstars are also incredibly over with the fans. So a match between Lesnar and Wyatt at a pay-per-view like Royal Rumble or even WrestleMania, would do huge numbers. Having Wyatt win this feud with Lesnar would give him great momentum. It would make Wyatt a legit contender for the WWE Championship.

Having Lesnar and Wyatt on different shows would normally stop this feud from happening, but the WWE has already allowed Lesnar to make an appearance on SmackDown. This feud could work if the WWE handles it the same way they are currently handling Lesnar’s feud with Orton.

Giving Wyatt a win over Lesnar would benefit his career greatly. He already has the support of the fans, great mic skills, and solid in-ring ability, but a win over Lesnar would establish Wyatt as a credible contender for the WWE Championship.
