WWE SummerSlam is shaping up to be a great show, and there’s a legitimate chance it ends up being better than WrestleMania 32.

WWE has always taken pride in touting its “Big Four” pay-per-views as some of the biggest events of the year. Although there’s been some talk about Money in the Bank surpassing Survivor Series for a spot in that elite four of WWE shows, the other three have been mainstays in the group since their inception. Those PPVs include the Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, and SummerSlam.

While the Rumble is known as a huge event because it contains the most popular gimmick match of all time, the other two shows are exciting simply because of their usually stacked cards. WWE has chosen those two events to be the ones that define them. WrestleMania is usually the culmination of a year’s worth of storylines and is presented as the biggest show they can possibly produce, while SummerSlam essentially serves as a secondary mega-show; one that is nearly as big and marks the approximate halfway point between Manias.

But despite the fact that SummerSlam won’t have an attendance of 100,000+ and won’t feature the Rock setting his own name on fire with a blowtorch, there’s a chance it could be better than WrestleMania 32. This year’s Mania was a little underwhelming, so we’ve come up with five reasons why it could be bested by the “Biggest Party of the Summer”.
