How Rhyno Can Be Major Asset for WWE SmackDown Live
By Jay Sichler
With a very long and successful career “The Man Beast” Rhyno, has all the tools to be a major asset for Smackdown Live, whichever way they decide to use him.
Smackdown Live has gotten off to a fast and exciting start following the WWE draft three weeks ago. With an impressive roster, which combines both youth and veterans, the blue brand has a unique roster. One of those veteran talents that the brand was able to acquire was former ECW Champion and hardcore legend Rhyno. He made his shocking return to the main roster on the first episode of Smackdown Live following the WWE Draft.

Rhyno had been working down in NXT for the last year helping develop the younger talent such as Finn Balor and Baron Corbin. He briefly came up in December to help the Dudley Boyz battle the Wyatt Family, but it was short-lived, and he soon returned to NXT.
Rhyno comes to Smackdown Live being a major asset, in that he can do anything the company will ask him to do. This includes putting talent over. Many wrestlers have a tough time just putting others over on a consistent basis. However, The Man Beast showed he had no ego and was willing to do anything that the company asked him. That’s a rare thing for wrestlers to do, but by doing so, he certainly fell into the companies good graces, which may be what led to him being rewarded with a main roster contract.
If needed, Rhyno can do the same thing on the main roster. With new stars such as Apollo Crews, Kalisto, Mojo Rawley, and others, the Michigan native can help teach these newcomers and help develop them into future main event stars.
WWE could also elevate Rhyno into the main event picture if they wanted to. With his first run in WWE being in the early 2000’s, he missed working with current top stars, John Cena, AJ Styles, and Randy Orton. He worked with Styles in TNA, but not everyone has watched the show, so it could be seen as a new feud as well.

Unfortunately, Rhyno never really got a fair chance in WWE during his first run. An injury to his neck in 2001 sidelined his chance to be big, and by the time he had returned, the ship had sailed. This could potentially be his chance to be a major player in WWE.
Rhyno is solid in the ring and can be good on the microphone when given his opportunities. He could certainly have an entertaining program with any of the top stars currently on Smackdown. The ongoing political ambitions could help him as well, since he could be a public figure. Rhyno recently won the Republican primary in his hometown of Dearborn for the House of Representatives. If the former Hardcore Champion wins the election against his Democratic opponent, he will the seat for the House of Representatives.
WWE has always been involved in politics, whether it was the Smackdown “Your Vote” campaigns or Linda McMahon running for Connecticut Senator. Showing Rhyno in a positive light would help gather both gather media attention for WWE and help his campaign.

Whatever way WWE decide to use Rhyno on Smackdown he will be a major asset to the show. Whether he is helping build the new wave of stars, or battling the veterans Smackdown is certainly a lot better with Rhyno on the show than without him.
