NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn II Results: Austin Aries vs. No Way Jose Video Highlights
By Tim Sherry
A look at the live results and highlights of Austin Aries vs No Way Jose at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn II.
The build for this match at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn II has been about 2 months in the making. Former TNA and ROH World Champion Aries, had a backstage interaction with the ever-positive Jose on the June 22nd episode of NXT TV. Later in the night, after a Jose win, Aries came out to dance with him but instead assaulted the young Dominican-American.
Jose would get his revenge about a month later. After weeks of being off NXT TV, he returned on July 20th, jumping Aries in the ring after a win and showing a well-received new found aggression.
This is an interesting matchup. Aries, a highly decorated wrestler outside of WWE has been only marginally effective so far in his tenure. Jose is brand new to wrestling, only starting his career in 2013. Will the company go with the established veteran who’s ready for a move to a bigger angle or will the go with the rookie upstart?
Jose hits the ring first and is followed by a conga line of NXT fans. This guy is kind of infectious. Aries is out next and it’s clear that the Barclays Center crowd is in his corner as about 90% of the crowd is chanting the heel’s name.

Jose is looking to show Aries test he’s not intimidated by giving his foe an open hand smack in the mouth. The action spilled to the outside and Jose delivered a beautiful diving double ax handle. Jose is working the crowd.
Jose got himself in trouble by getting too eager and Aries dropped him throat-first on the top rope. 2 flying elbows from Aries gets 2 close 2 counts but Jose is game, battling back with some heavy chops. But Aries comes back and locks Jose into the Last Chancery but he escapes and suddenly lands a fantastic looking TKO. The veteran Aries does the right thing and sends his opponent outside and lands a running dive to the mat.
Aries looks to finish with the brain buster but Jose lands a modified Falcon Arrow for a 2 count. Aries lands a crucifix bomb and then a running corner dropkick. Jose looks dazed but meets Aries on the top rope looking for a superplex, but Aries counters with a flip over powerbomb back and immediately back into the Last Chancery for the tap.
Aries isn’t happy with just the win though as he attacks Jose and locks him back into the submission. This prompted a save by Hideo Itami!
After a brief exchange, Itami lands the GTS, the move he invented, on Aries. The Brooklyn crowd is going insane.
