4 Reasons Bobby Roode is the Next Triple H in WWE

1. The Payoff
One of my favorite things about HHH is the complicated history he has with all of the top stars of his era. He’s fought and befriended Mick Moley, Shawn Michaels, Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, and many more that we all consider legends. It makes his every appearance unpredictable and rich with such a detailed lineage.
We’re entering an exciting phase in WWE right now where a number of TNA stars are crossing over, and Roode has similarly messy relationships with each of them. Roode has stood as a brother opposite AJ Styles in the Four Horseman-based stable, Fortune. He’s fought Samoa Joe for World Titles, he’s wrestled Austin Aries for the gold and won gold beside him. His former Beer Money pal James Storm may be coming back to NXT, which could prove interesting. And there’s even talk his best friend/bitter foe Eric Young could return, as well.
Roode could be at the forefront of some truly epic matches with all of those superstars. Or he could forge some very intriguing partnerships. It used to be that WWE was reluctant to acknowledge anything that happened in other promotions, and while they still won’t mention TNA by name they have become better about staying true to history. There may be no other superstar who weaves a more tangled web than Roode, opening up an incredible amount of storyline potential. We should see some of that play out in NXT where there is a log jam of former TNA talent, but when it hits the main stage it could be explosive.

A year or two from now we may look back at the signing of Bobby Roode as one of the most important in WWE’s history. While there are a lot of factors that will play a part in how things go, Roode has the potential to be the game-changing superstar that rarely comes along anymore. And if he reaches that potential it will be glorious for the fans and certainly for the WWE.
