After his career-defining win against John Cena at Summerslam, now is the time for WWE to give the Phenomenal, AJ Styles the WWE World Championship.

This past week at Summerslam, AJ Styles achieved one of the greatest victories in his storied career. The Phenomenal One accomplished something not many can claim, he cleanly defeated John Cena.

Styles had previously beaten Cena back at Money in the Bank in July. However, an asterisk had been placed on the win because of Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson interfering. With this win, though, Styles won fair and square with no help from anyone.

After this victory, it is evident that WWE needs to give the former NJPW star the WWE World Championship.

WWE may have brought Styles in to be no more than an upper mid-carder at best. However, he showed that the cream does rise to the top and has been viewed as one of the top stars in WWE.

This point was cemented when he was selected to Smackdown fourth overall in the draft, being picked before stars like John Cena, Randy Orton, and Brock Lesnar. This move solidified that WWE had big plans for Styles going forward.

After the lackluster feud and match Dean Ambrose and Dolph Ziggler had for the WWE Championship, the blue brand could use a more appealing feud. They would gain this with a Program between the Lunatic Fringe and The Phenomenal One.

There could be concern on how the WWE could book this feud, though. Ambrose, during his feud with Ziggler, showed a heelish type attitude.

After the heart and guile that AJ be showed during his incredible match with John Cena at Summerslam to not give up, he can easily project as a face. With a portion of the crowd already fans of Styles, the others can jump aboard after respecting the fact that he wouldn’t quit at the show. With the possibility that Cena will leave again for a few months and how Styles will not see his Club brothers, Anderson, and Gallows until the Survivor Series in November, anything that could affect him turning face will not be around him for a big chunk of time.

This past Tuesday on Smackdown live AJ Styles defeated Dolph Ziggler to earn the No. 1 contendorship for the WWE Championship at Backlash. The duo of Styles and Ambrose can now enter a program which lasts for a few months with AJ finally winning the WWE Championship.

In his short time in WWE, AJ has shown that he is very deserving to be WWE Champion. He has had top matches with everyone he has worked with and has shown he can work as a top face or heel.

With Ambrose looking for a big feud there is no one better that could fit that bill than Styles. The matches those two could have would be fantastic, and their program would be a must watch for people to tune into Smackdown Live.
