The Miz might have shown how truly passionate he is to be in the WWE after his verbal exchange with Daniel Bryan on Talking Smack.

It wasn’t too long ago when The Miz was at the top of the mountain in WWE. Cashing in Money in the Bank to win the WWE Championship and having a win over John Cena for that title in the main event of WrestleMania XXVII in 2011.

That was back when he had the fire that pushed him to be in that main event picture. But during a recent episode of Talking Smack on the WWE Network on Tuesday night, the current WWE Intercontinental Champion might have rediscovered that burning passion that has kept his glass ceiling at the mid-card level.

The interview segment involved The Miz and Daniel Bryan. The two have a long history as rivals from Bryan’s days on the first season of NXT back in 2010 where Bryan was paired with The Miz as his pro mentor. Bryan made a comment about The Miz being a coward and that seemed to be the tipping point for The Miz.

The Miz wouldn’t let Bryan’s comments go without a comeback that questioned the passion that the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion and now SmackDown general manager. The fact that The Miz was so passionate about Bryan not loving the business as much as he does was a big shock. The bigger shock might have been that Bryan walked off the set.

It has been a long time since the WWE Universe has seen The Miz with this much fire under him while holding a microphone. In fact, there was a period of time where he didn’t seem to have the same fire that he once did. While no one is going to call into question his work ethic, but the WWE felt that he wasn’t putting in the same amount of effort after fighting so hard to get to the top.

When he first came to the WWE in 2004, it felt like the company was trying to capitalize on his fame from reality television. Back then, the WWE didn’t give him much to work with as a host of SmackDown and then the host of the WWE Diva Search. However, he kept working hard in training to become a full-time wrestler on the WWE roster.

His character seemed silly and the fans weren’t really taking The Miz very seriously. But he wanted to prove people wrong and he climbed his way to winning multiple championships in the WWE. Maybe the company made a bad move in turning him as a good guy and that might have affected his standing as well, but The Miz was not showing that same desire that he did during his first few years in the company.

So where does the WWE go from here? Obviously, fans are talking about the heated verbal exchange between the two. Maybe this can be a storyline where Bryan starts putting The Miz in more matches, which can help boost The Miz as a certified main event talent once again.

The fans might start to respect The Miz more if he was able to do more promos similar to the Talking Smack segment. That doesn’t mean the WWE should make him a face, but it allows fans to see that he is dedicated and will surpass their expectations and their concept of his limitations. For all we know, this could be the spark that ignites a new main event run for The Miz and that would be awesome.
