Who Should AJ Styles Feud with After John Cena and Dean Ambrose?
By Jay Sichler
With AJ Styles about to conclude his feuds with both Dean Ambrose and John Cena, who should The Phenomenal One feud with next?
It has been quite the year for The Phenomenal One, AJ Styles. Since his debut in WWE in January, Styles has become one of the top wrestlers in the company. Originally viewed as possibly being nothing more than a mid-carder, Styles has completely blown his original projection out of the water.
The former NJPW star hit the pinnacle of his wrestling career at Backlash, when he defeated Dean Ambrose to win the WWE Championship at Backlash. Styles is now set to defend the Championship in a triple threat match against Ambrose and John Cena at No Mercy.
This bout seems set in place to be the conclusion of Styles’ programs with both Ambrose and Cena. With them venturing off into their own feud, the question arises of what lies next for The Phenomenal One?
The perfect feud after No Mercy is for Styles to feud with The Apex Predator, Randy Orton.
Since returning from his shoulder injury in July, Orton has been on fire with both his mic work and his personality. This had been on display when he arguably carried the program between him and Brock Lesnar for Summerslam.

Since then, Orton has been involved in a somewhat interesting feud with Bray Wyatt on Smackdown. They were set to meet at Backlash, but due to a lingering concussion caused during his match with Lesnar, Orton couldn’t compete.

Orton and Wyatt are now set to compete against one another at No Mercy, with the strong belief that Orton will the match. This pay-per-view should conclude their rivalry, and would allow Orton to then start a program with Styles.
During Styles’ short time in the WWE, he has yet to cross paths with The Viper, so their program would be brand new. With Orton being gone for nearly a year, he has only been on the active roster for three months of Styles run in WWE.
The former Evolution member has been steered away from the WWE Championship, because of his recent battles with Lesnar and Wyatt. With his possible victory over Wyatt at No Mercy, Orton could then realistically re-enter the title picture.
The appeal that these two have never wrestled in WWE against each other really sets up a dream feud. Both have shown over the years that they are two of the most gifted athletes to ever step in the ring. They could definitely put on some five-star matches, along with their strong mic work, which could help the feud outside the ring. Both Styles and Orton’s recent promos has been some of the best in both of their careers.
