What happened on Tuesday’s episode of WWE Talking Smack?

After every episode of WWE SmackDown, Talking Smack takes place with Renee Young and Daniel Bryan. The recap the Blue Brand show, that went off the air and bring in guests.

On the October 4 episode of Talking Smack, Dolph Ziggler and AJ Styles were the guests. What did they have to say about their upcoming matches at No Mercy?

Dolph Ziggler Has No “Spirit”

During SmackDown, The Miz played a “Dolphumentary” on the lowlights of Dolph Ziggler’s WWE career. Conversation about this immediately got brought up when Dolph Ziggler joined Renee Young and Daniel Bryan.

  • Ziggler commented on how much money WWE and Miz put into the “Dolphumentary”. He mentioned how it showed how many times he had to overcome terrible things in his career (all booking). This included having poop dumped on him multiple times, and all the other discrediting parts of his WWE stay.

  • The Showoff made sure to mention if he loses on Sunday, that his WWE career is over. It won’t be returning on Raw or coming back under a mask, but a departure.
  • Ziggler said he has his other interests “in his back pocket”.

It’s interesting how the conversation is more about Ziggler leaving than him winning the Intercontinental Championship. While a potential departure is obviously the bigger headline, winning The Miz’s title would keep him around. It seems like that’s gotten lost in the shuffle because instead, we’re giving an obituary to Ziggler’s career. This makes it feel like the former Spirit Squad member will win at No Mercy.

AJ Styles is “Going to Win”

More from Daily DDT

As Young and Bryan begin talking about the No Mercy main event. AJ Styles walked up to discuss the match.

  • Styles walks up to the set and said he will win. He stated he will find a way to walk out as champion at No Mercy.
  • The Phenomenal One said Dean Ambrose shouldn’t be in the main event because he lost their one on one rematch. Bryan states that he and Shane McMahon thought Styles didn’t get a proper win. Styles then said John Cena shouldn’t be in this match because he lost at SummerSlam, and called the latter’s potential record-tying win “BS”.
  • Styles ranted about having a chip on his shoulder and winning the WWE World Championship. He said he will retain the belt because he is a winner, and stormed off the set to conclude Talking Smack.

An unexpected appearance from the world champion took place, but a meaningful one here. Styles’ fiery promo was an easy sell for the No Mercy main event, where he’ll defend the title against Cena and Ambrose.
