Total Days as Champion: 1225
In the real world of professional wrestling there is no wrestler as successful as Triple H. Not only did he have a lucrative career at the very top of his profession, he married into pro wrestling’s royal family and is now set to sit atop WWE’s throne until retirement.
In terms of being a successor to Vince McMahon, wrestling fans could do a lot worse. Triple H has shown many times that he is in tune with what wrestling fans want. Many fans put a lot of stock into how well the NXT Takeover shows are perceived when considering how safe the WWE will be in Triple H and Stephanie’s hands once Vince is no longer in charge.
Considering that Triple H is largely thought to have been given a large amount of power due to his marriage to the boss’ daughter, it is actually surprising that he isn’t more disliked than he is. In general, receiving a position of authority due to marriage is cause for someone to be disrespected, but fans of NXT have been won over by Triple H’s ability to handle the position.
A common criticism of Triple H is that he has used his backstage influence to manipulate how successful his on-screen character is. Whether it is because of his backstage influence or not, there is no denying that Triple H’s character has been one of the most decorated champions of all time.
In total Triple H is just 169 days as champion behind the modern era’s most proficient superstar.
