WWE Survivor Series 2016: 5 Reasons Goldberg Should Defeat Brock Lesnar
By Dean Siemon
3. A Loss Would Mean WWE Return Was Pointless
Goldberg was brought to WWE because of how big of a star he is. With the WWE Network featuring plenty of film on Goldberg’s career that started in 1997, fans are very much aware of how good he was in the WWE. His undefeated streak that included 173 official victories in WCW that featured a lengthy run as the WCW World Heavyweight Champion. They are aware of who he is and what he does.
While the original goal for Goldberg to make a visit to WWE Raw last month was part of the promotion for the WWE 2K17 video game, a return match should include getting a big victory. Goldberg making his return after a 12-year absence end up leading to a loss would just feel like the WWE wasted Goldberg’s time and effort. Fans would be left wondering why they would push Goldberg strong to lose a match right away.
This sort of questioning has come up not too long ago and it wouldn’t be something we would put past the WWE creative team. There are a lot of questionable booking decisions that aren’t completely impossible under the current regime. It still wouldn’t excuse that a loss would make Goldberg’s comeback completely pointless.
