John Cena – Theodore Roosevelt
Theodore Roosevelt was the 20th century representative of the Mount Rushmore Presidents. He focused on developing America with particular emphasis on our natural parks, forests, and monuments. He worked towards promoting the economy and developing international affairs by notably starting construction on the Panama Canal. He was appointed as Assistant Secretary of the Navy under President William McKinley and later served with distinction during the Spanish-American War and was subsequently elected Governor of New York in 1898.
No active wrestler has done more for the WWE in the last decade than John Cena. This is not my opinion. Put your feelings about Cena aside and look at the facts. Thanks to his global outreach, Cena has granted over 500 wishes for children with life-threatening illnesses through the Make-A-Wish Foundation; the most in that company’s history. He has helped to expand the social outreach of WWE to every corner of the globe which was an important initiative as the WWE shifted out of the PG-13/R content of the Attitude Era and into more family-friendly programming which has proven extremely lucrative. Cena has appeared in several Hollywood films (and provided his voice for a few animated films) while also appearing on countless television shows.
Like Roosevelt, Cena is extremely patriotic and has no qualms about showcasing his gratitude for men and women in uniform. Roosevelt was a champion for the Progressive Era in the United States which was marked by widespread social activism and political reforms. In that same vein, Cena has been the driving force behind many WWE programs that take on important social issues such as bullying.
Teddy Roosevelt is considered by many scholars to have been one of our greatest presidents, while Cena is routinely referred to as the face of the WWE. Cena spent a decade working his way up the pecking order until he became arguably the most recognizable face of the company today. At the time, Roosevelt represented the greatest president of the 20th century while Cena represents the greatest wrestler of the 21st century.
