5 Reasons WWE NXT Is Losing Fan Interest
Despite its many successes and unrelenting fan support, WWE NXT isn’t doing as well as many people thing.
For many people, WWE NXT is the real crown jewel of programming. It’s what a wrestling show ought to be: wrestling matches with storylines interwoven into them instead of the opposite. Ever since Triple H took over the program, it has got better and better. In fact, by this time last year, fans at NXT events were chanting ‘better than RAW’ and have chanted the names of NXT stars on WWE’s main shows.
This must’ve been a huge insult for one Vince McMahon, who views NXT as nothing more than his developmental brand. Worse, RAW is, always has been and always will be, WWE’s flagship brand. So for the perceived ‘minor leagues’ to have been doing better than the main show is a major insult.
I say ‘have been’ because as of late, things haven’t been so rosy for NXT. While the program is still a runaway success for WWE and their Network, it isn’t the same unstoppable force it was even one year ago. Something has happened in the past 12 months or so that had stalled or even reversed NXT’s growing popularity. The show has reached a point where it’s losing fan interest, instead of being the massive draw it’s hyped up to be.
