Cruiserweight Championship Match: Rich Swann (c) vs TJ Perkins vs Brian Kendrick

The early stages of the WWE’s new Cruiserweight division have been dare I say, maybe a tinge disappointing?  After a sizzling Cruiserweight Classic that saw now former champ Perkins take the top spot, the division has yet to really define itself as must-see television.  The implementation of its own show, 205 Live, should help the struggling Cruisers and in due time names like Akira Tozawa, Tajiri, and potentially Austin Aries should breathe some new life.

In the meantime, the 3 combatants in this match should not be taken lightly.  Although Perkins short title run was a bit of dud, he’s still a wildly talented kid with a bright future.  Kendrick, the wily veteran is currently embarking on some of the best material of his entire career, and then there’s Swann.  The ultra-fun, ultra-athletic dancing machine has been nothing short of a revelation since being signed full-time to the WWE.

This should be a solid match with three guys that can really work.  The smart money is on Swann retaining here.  It wouldn’t make too much sense to put the belt on him and then take it away 3 weeks later.  But I just have this strange feeling that Kendrick is walking out with the strap.  He’s clearly the most intriguing character in the division and has the best story to tell.  Add that to the fact that Swann was teasing a knee injury on the last episode of 205 Live and you’ve got a recipe for a title change.  It’s a bit of a gamble but I’m taking Kendrick.

Winner and new Champion: Brian Kendrick
