Alexa Bliss Continues to Make Case as Top Female in WWE
By Dean Siemon
Alexa Bliss is certainly the top woman on SmackDown Live as the brand’s women’s champion. But she’s also making a case for being the top female in WWE.
The Divas Revolution has brought us a number of talented female wrestlers in the WWE. Sasha Banks, Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch have received most of the attention. In the last few months, Alexa Bliss has shown that she is deserving of being considered the best female in the WWE.
A lot of fans have talked about Flair and Banks in a long rivalry for the Raw Women’s Championship. But SmackDown has featured a women’s rivalry that is arguably better than what is on Raw.
Part of that could be because the championship isn’t being bounced back and forth between Alexa Bliss and Becky Lynch for multiple reigns that are less than a month in length.
It has been an entertaining feud with different endings that allowed for the rivalry to continue. The feud has not depended on the former champion’s rematch clause. Bliss also had one of the most talked about moments on Tuesday’s SmackDown Live.
With La Luchadora acting as a distraction, the referee was focused on a seemingly injured Bliss. The champion looked as if her arm was broken at the elbow. Arms shouldn’t bend that direction, right?
It ended with her suddenly catching Lynch distracted for a roll-up pin and the successful title defense. It certainly looked it and fans went online praising Alexa Bliss for her valiant effort.
Nothing has been confirmed or denied regarding Alexa Bliss possibly popping her elbow back into place. But it seems more likely that she’s really double-jointed. Watching the match again, it looked as if she was kneeling in pain as the referee was attending to her. But it didn’t look like Bliss did anything to “pop it back into place.”

Normally, referees stop a match when someone breaks an arm or dislocates something like an elbow. Instead, the match continued with a normal flow.
Based on that medical expertise, Alexa Bliss might have faked a broken arm to gain an advantage. You can’t put it past Bliss. At least not after what happened a couple of weeks ago. But it also shows that she was able to fool everyone; even the internet wrestling community.
If so, kudos to Alexa Bliss. Not only did she retain the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship, but she did it in a way that truly makes her a candidate for top heel in the division.
A scripted heel tactic that felt like a real moment further proves that she has developed into a true star in the company. Since first coming to WWE through NXT in 2013, Alexa Bliss has evolved into one of the best-rounded athletes in the company. While she showed her improved abilities in the ring after the WWE Draft, she started to show more personality at Backlash in September.

Bliss underwent a change to look similar to Harley Quinn from the Suicide Squad film. She’s been able to find a unique look and make it work. Given a few more years, and there’s a chance that the Wicked Witch of the WWE is going to be the top female competitor in the WWE.
