Dolph Ziggler vs. Apollo Crews and Kalisto

Result: Apollo Crews and Kalisto defeat Dolph Ziggler via pinfall.

Rating: 1.75 out of 5 stars

As Kalisto made his entrance, Ziggler attacked him from behind, sending him into the video board. So this match immediately became a one-on-one. It’s a smart move with booking two faces to take on one heel not making much sense. This is something that’s usually the other way around to tell the story.

Well, this didn’t last long as after Crews and Ziggler battled, Kalisto returned. He took a tag, had a bit of offense, and ended up helping Crews overwhelm the Showoff for the win. It took away what had been done on the entrance ramp and made the usual babyface booking back to being illogical.

Afterward, Ziggler took out his frustrations — again. He went after them with chairs, much like what has happened the past few weeks. It showed nothing new in a mid-card program that could have used a little extra juice on Sunday night. Now we’re pretty much back to where we were last Tuesday.

Overall, the idea around this failed. Ziggler still walked out with cheers because the fans don’t care about Crews and Kalisto. They want to root for the one that hasn’t stopped losing, which is easy for them to get behind. This is similar to Sami Zayn and most recently, Tye Dillinger.
