14. Baron Corbin Wins the WWE Intercontinental Championship
At the 2017 Elimination Chamber pay-per-view, Baron Corbin decided to lash out at Dean Ambrose after taking a surprising pinfall. He mauled the WWE Intercontinental champion around the structure and left him to be pinned.
On the following episode of SmackDown, Ambrose searched for his assailant, only to be beaten down for the second time in three days. So the battle of fists here is far from over. If anything, it could continue for another six weeks until WrestleMania 33.
If Corbin challenges for Ambrose’s title at the Show of Shows, expect him to walk out victorious. He’s been trending up since the brand split, steadily moving into the top of the match card. This includes two WWE Championship matches and now feuding with a former World champion. If the Lone Wolf is going to progress, it will see him win the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania. He should then be in for a long run, while Ambrose potentially moves back into the main event picture.
