Randy Orton Reveals His True Colors
SmackDown Live’s final segment of the night featured WWE Champion Bray Wyatt. Addressing his new challenger AJ Styles, the Eater of World presses his belief that Styles will become a victim like all the rest. He goes on to exchange a few more words about the Phenomenal One, after which he switches focus to Randy Orton. Showing his partner on the screen at the site of the Wyatt Compound, his night quickly turns sour.
Revealing his master plan, Orton tells Wyatt that the land he’s standing on was never truly meant for the Viper. Stating his intentions to battle for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania, Orton tells his former master that now the tables have turned. It’s time for Orton to become the master, and so he begins pouring gasoline all over the compound. An emotional Wyatt tries to convince his former partner to stop his actions, but his pleas fall on deaf ears.
Talking about Sister Abigail, Orton tells the angered WWE Champion that her soul will burn. He then lights a match and ignites the gasoline, which makes Wyatt absolutely livid. Orton stares into the camera as the crowd cheers him on to close out SmackDown Live. Easily one of the Blue Brand’s greatest storylines in recent memory, this goes to show how long-term storytelling does wonders for the WWE product.
