Pre-Show:  Akira Tozawa & Rich Swann vs Brian Kendrick and Noam Dar

Let’s call it what it is.  The Cruiserweight division since being re-instituted last summer has been a pretty big disappointment.  And it’s a shame.  There is a wealth of talent from all over the globe currently signed to the 205 brand and as such should be able to produce an engaging show.  But whether it’s been their lack of air time, lazy booking, or recent overall indifference to the cruisers, the 205 division has become an afterthought.  The title win by Neville was definitely a shot of life to the division but it still has a long way go before regaining some of the momentum it had during the Cruiserweight Classic last June.

The good news is that the Cruiserweights are still getting air time on pay-per-views.  And that’ll be no different Sunday at Fastlane.  The first match for the 205’s is this tag match between 4 exceptionally talented workers.  Swann and Kendrick have already won the 205 title and Dar and especially Tozawa have future champion written all over them.  Depending on how much in-ring time this match gets, it ought to be a good one.  All 4 guys can absolutely bring it in various ways and if this is done correctly they could really kick the show off on the right foot.

The winners of this match come down what makes sense for the future of the division.  Tozawa clearly looks like the next guy that’ll get pushed into the title scene, especially since the champ, Neville, is a heel.  That could be some really good stuff and could help the 205 division get hot again.  Look for the baby faces to pull this out, specifically with Tozawa pinning Kendrick who has been his most recent tormentor.

Winners: Akira Tozawa and Rich Swann
