WWE Fastlane 2017: Charlotte’s PPV Winning Streak Should Not Have Ended
In what came as a huge shock, Bayley retained her title at Fastlane by pinning Charlotte and ending her PPV winning streak.
No one thought it would happen, in fact, it was practically a guarantee that Charlotte would defeat Bayley at Fastlane and regain the Raw Women’s Championship. But that did not actually happen, Bayley in her first title defense, ended up pinning Charlotte and retaining the title, thus ending Charlotte’s 16 month PPV winning streak. It was not an entirely clean ending with Sasha Banks coming out for a bit of an assist to Bayley, and Charlotte had no Dana Brooke by her side.
For everything they have done building up this winning PPV streak with Charlotte, they really haven’t made it too much of a storyline point. It has only recently really been a vocal point in this feud, and just like that, it came to an end. This big streak is not something that should have just ended right before WrestleMania, if anything WrestleMania would have been the place to end her streak or heck even kept it going until Summerslam. Right now, it just does not make Charlotte look as strong as she was, and with how Bayley and Sasha were booked in the match it seemed like a heel move.
While it does seem like they are going to build a Sasha heel turn, and perhaps have Bayley, Sasha, Charlotte and Nia Jax all competing for the gold at WrestleMania, why have this atrocious booking now? It does not make sense in the slightest, and Fastlane suffered from some poor booking choices. Nia Jax lost to Sasha Banks after she destroyed her all match, and lost to a weak roll up. After her build up, why make her look weak now? Charlotte vs. Bayley was by far their weakest match, nothing really clicked at all and there wasn’t that much excitement during the match. So to have the big loss then and there, it left little impact.
There is not huge feeling that Bayley climbed the mountain, because it was at Fastlane and in a match, that had no momentum. If Bayley got the big win at WrestleMania, it would have meant something a lot more. It also feels awfully tainted because Bayley did not do it by herself, she had help and after stating that Charlotte should go at it alone without Dana Brooke. Honestly, what were they thinking here? Not only does Charlotte not look good, neither does Bayley and it almost ruins her image as the role model for young girls.

Unless they can do something drastic on Raw, and in the time left to build up to WrestleMania, the Raw Women’s Division is going to suffer badly. The wrong choices were made at Fastlane, and now they have a lot to work on to fix their issues. It isn’t fair to their hard-working women, and of course to the fans who support them.
