No. 1 Contender’s Match for the WWE Championship
AJ Styles vs. Randy Orton

Result: Randy Orton wins via pinfall

Rating: 4.25 out of 5 stars

For the first time in WWE history, AJ Styles and Randy Orton competed in a one-on-one match against each other. The stakes were at an all-time high, with the fans in attendance knowing they were going to see something special. As an added bonus, Styles took a moment to speak to the WWE Universe before the big match. Taking credit for elevating SmackDown Live, the Phenomenal One went on to describe the disrespect he feels he receives from Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon. He intends for the WWE Championship to be in his possession again, with his journey starting tonight.

Out next is Randy Orton, and with that, the main event could officially commence. Despite the fact that they have never been in the same ring before, these two did an amazing job producing an epic encounter. Throughout the contest, each man would manage to receive several of the big power moves their opponent attempted. Counters to finishers were in high demand, making the result of the match up in the air. Styles knew that at he no choice but to avoid the RKO. He gave a valiant effort and delivered plenty of offense, however tonight just wasn’t his night.

After several failed attempts, Orton managed to hit his infamous finisher to score the victory. Standing triumphantly over his fallen foe, the Viper had secured his chance at the WWE Championship. Now he heads into WrestleMania as the number one contender, and another chance to silence Bray Wyatt. The only question is, how will the Eater of Worlds respond to this new development?
