Hideo Itami Returns to WWE NXT at Live Event (Video)
Hideo Itami made his long-awaited return to WWE NXT on Saturday night.
The journey of Hideo Itami in WWE NXT has been rough for the past two years. He’s dealt with injuries that’s kept him out for most of this time — first, a shoulder injury and then a neck ailment. It has kept him from the spotlight he once had in developmental, which Superstars like Finn Balor, Samoa Joe, Shinsuke Nakamura and Bobby Roode eventually overtook.
Well, once again, Itami made his return to NXT. He came back during a live event on Saturday night in Orlando, FL, getting revenge on Riddick Moss, who (unintentionally) injured him at a house show in late 2016. The Japanese Sensation looked sharp here in his run-in:
Throw this comment in from Itami too. He said it’s “just the beginning.”
Itami is in an interesting spot. He could return to NXT, but could WWE take the risk of calling him up while healthy? They were willing to give him a spot in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 31, if that helps his case. That was almost two years ago, but if he’s just going to linger around Full Sail University and not find a way into NXT TakeOver: Orlando, then the main roster could always use him as depth.
If NXT is still the former KENTA’s home, then he’ll have to fight his way onto TakeOver. With the last taping before the show already recorded, this will be difficult unless he makes a cameo similar to Brooklyn II.

So we’ll see if Hideo Itami shows up on April 1 at TakeOver: Orlando. If not, then the main roster or next NXT taping are the only other two options. What will WWE do with him?
