5. Ambrose Asylum Replaces Highlight Reel

Let’s be real: The initial Chris Jericho return was somewhat lackluster. It wasn’t until he turned on AJ Styles in March that he started getting his groove back. But his best work of the run started during his program with Dean Ambrose, beginning just after WrestleMania 32.

What’s crazy about that is the feud started with Ambrose and Jericho being nothing more than pawns in battle for control of WWE between Shane and Stephanie McMahon. But somehow, both guys – especially Jericho – managed to kick things up a notch.

And I can hear the complaints now – “But this isn’t a moment, it’s a whole bunch of moments!” And yeah, you’re right. But it was during this bunch of moments that Chris Jericho became the best version of Chris Jericho he had been in several years. When did he start wearing his scarves? While feuding with Ambrose. When did he christen the phrase “The Gift of Jericho”? While battling with Dean, maaaaaaaaan.

If you want to be picky about it, though, we can refer to the Asylum Match at WWE Extreme Rules in May. Ambrose was victorious after slamming Jericho onto a pile of thumbtacks. It wasn’t a particularly great match, but all was forgiven when Y2J landed in the tacks. The visual was pretty gnarly, as was the video of the WWE medical staff removing said thumbtacks.
