5 Best Moments of Chris Jericho’s Current WWE Run
By Bryan Heaton
1. Festival of Friendship
Come on, was there any doubt this would be number one?
Aside from being one of the best parts of Chris Jericho’s current run, the entire Festival of Friendship was one of the greatest segments in recent Raw history. And if we’re being honest, I probably could have pulled five different spots from the segment to populate this entire list.
Let’s talk about why it was so great, though. It gave us Chris Jericho, Game Show Host, for all intents and purposes. He was so happy as everything got under way, wasn’t he? The Vegas showgirls, the big introduction – all of it.
Then we got to the meat of the bit – all of the gifts Y2J had brought for his best friend, Kevin Owens. There was a magician, and his name was Friendship. There was artwork! More than one piece, commissioned by Jericho himself special for the occasion! And Y2J even proved he had pitch perfect comedic timing: Waiting an entire commercial break before saying the last word in, “You’re gonna get… … … … … IT!”
Don’t forget that Jericho wanted to provide Owens with a chance to beat up Goldberg ahead of the big Universal Title match at WWE Fastlane. But rather than get the real Goldberg, Jericho decided to bring Gillberg back to WWE. If you ask me, Jericho was just trying to show that he meant no ill will when he accepted Goldberg’s challenge on KO’s behalf.
Of course, the segment didn’t exactly end particularly well for Jericho, but that’s beyond the point. It’s what brought us to the brink of the big Mania match between KO and Y2J.
