Jim Ross: AJ Styles’ WrestleMania 33 Match Will See His Greatness Shine Through

Despite the criticism of what AJ Styles is doing at WrestleMania 33, Jim Ross thinks he’ll be fine.

Saying AJ Styles’ WrestleMania 33 plans have received backlash is an understatement. It’s mostly surrounded around the idea of “he should be wrestling someone better than Shane McMahon.” The match became official on this past Tuesday’s episode of SmackDown Live.

Among the few supports for this match is legendary announcer, Jim Ross. In his recent blog post on jrsbbq.com, he talks about liking what Styles did on SmackDown, referring to his parking lot beatdown of McMahon. He then goes into why this match will succeed. More specifically, he says the Phenomenal One’s “greatness will shine through.”

"“Enjoyed the AJ Styles content on SD Live and am not one to take issue with AJ’s booking at Wrestlemania versus Shame McMahon. AJ’s greatness will shine through in Orlando on April 2 and Shane’s alpha male personality will push him to be better than he likely actually is."

Ross then talks about the booking being “better” than what everyone else has thought. They had a steady build for the past month with Styles dropping hints about his complaints with management. These surrounded his WWE Championship opportunities and wanting to be in the WrestleMania 33 main event.

"This will end up being a better booking than many perceive; plus it was, as the creative worked its way out, the best available option for, arguably, the best in ring talent in the world, AJ Styles, which is a whole other story. I look forward to watching these two do all that’s humanly possible to steal the show in Orlando.”"

There are still two more episodes of SmackDown Live to turn around fan perception. Maybe this won’t even happen before WrestleMania, but if Styles and McMahon put on an entertaining in-ring showing, then all the hysteria will likely go away. However, if the former NJPW star loses, then we may be in for more instant reactions from the WWE Universe.
