The Clock Winds Down for the General Manager

One of the developing storylines on Raw has involved the power struggle between Mick Foley and Stephanie McMahon. Always the down to earth legend, Foley has entertained audiences with his happy demeanor since his return to WWE. Giving all talent a chance to shine and sticking up for the superstars he believes in, Foley is the ideal authority figure. His fairness has been evident throughout his tenure as General Manager, and while he gets upset with talent he’d never openly sabotage their career.

On the opposite side of the spectrum, Stephanie is a ruthless and cold-hearted authority figure. For years she’s achieved success through lying and manipulation. Never one to shy away from confrontation, the Commissioner makes it clear who she does and doesn’t support. If you win her over, expect an easier rise to the top with plenty of help along the way. Disappoint her, and you’re lucky if you can escape her wrath intact.

When these first announced their partnership, plenty of fans were skeptical of how they’d work cohesively. At first, the pairing was a success and the two were on the same page for a number of things. As time went on, bit by bit the two differing personalities came to collide. By the time Raw rolled around last week, things had reached a fever pitch between the two. Threatening to fire Foley, Stephanie demanded that he present one superstar to be fired.

Instead of complying, Foley decided to name Stephanie as someone who should be removed from Raw. The segment ended with Triple H getting involved and a fight breaking out, which lead to Foley in pain and Stephanie furious. This path will eventually lead to Foley being fired, with tonight possibly being the catalyst for that decision.
