2. Kevin Owens Wins the WWE United States Championship

Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho’s friendship finally broke down in the middle of February, ending what had been a six-plus month alliance. It set up their WrestleMania 33 match, which would be confirmed shortly after Jericho returned to the WWE. The United States Championship is also being put on the line.

It’s likely that Y2J is going on tour with Fozzy after WrestleMania (or within a few weeks of the show). So he may be gone for an indefinite period of time. He’s not going to leave with a title around his waist, if that’s the case, meaning we should expect him to lose the U.S. Championship to Owens at the Show of Shows.

Even if Jericho wasn’t going away, it would make sense to put over the younger star at WrestleMania, which is KO. It gives him his first-ever win at the event and partially makes up for his 21-second loss to Goldberg at Fastlane. He can then pick up where he left off with his Universal Championship run, although it’s a tick down the ladder. If Brock Lesnar then defeats Goldberg and takes him off WWE TV, that will help his case, too as a potential show main eventer.
