SmackDown Tag Team Championship Match
American Alpha (c) vs The Usos

Result: The Usos win via pinfall (New Tag Team Champions)

Rating: 4.25 out of 5 stars

After our first commercial break, Daniel Bryan is once again backstage talking to Shane McMahon on the phone. By the sound of their conversation, it seems that the Commissioner has a plan in place for when AJ Styles attacks. Baron Corbin shows up after the conversation ends, wondering where Dean Ambrose has been as of late. Bryan responds that he has no idea, which leads the Lone Wolf to believe he has the night off. However, he finds out he’s set to face Randy Orton here tonight.

Back to the ring, it’s time for the Tag Team Championship match. During the opening moments, Jason Jordan and Chad Gable took control by out-wrestling their competition. Taking advantage of submission homes, they decided to slow down the pace early. Their dominance wouldn’t last long, as The Usos eventually isolated the champions. Making use of frequent tags, the brothers also displayed impressive ring awareness. Right as Jordan attempted to tag back in, the challengers knocked him off the apron to block the attempt.

Towards the final few minutes, the champions showed incredible resiliency when Gable kicked out of the Uso splash. Unfortunately, on this night they could only delay the inevitable. A devastating superkick would end Jordon’s night, and with that American Alpha’s tag title reign. Wild and chaotic, these are the matches that will build more interest in the tag division.

Shifting focus to the parking lot, AJ Styles was shown waiting for Shane McMahon to appear. Here’s hoping for an awesome brawl to occur later in the show.
