Baron Corbin vs Randy Orton
Result: Randy Orton wins via pinfall
Rating: 3.75 out of 5 stars
When we return from commercial break, Luke Harper shows up on the Titantron. Warning Randy Orton about the problem he created by destroying Sister Abigail, he switches focus to Bray Wyatt. Next week, the former Wyatt Family member will combat the WWE Champion on SmackDown Live.
Up next, The Miz and Maryse are shown in a hilarious parody about their WrestleMania opponents. Maryse played the role of both Nikki and Brie Bella, and Miz summoned his inner John Cena impersonation. The two were an absolute hit, excelling at gaining heat and delivering some lighthearted humor. No doubt this will earn them the wrath of Cena and Nikki later in the show.
With the announcement that part two of this parody will air later in the show, we now switch focus to the ring. For the first time ever, Baron Corbin is set to face Randy Orton in what has the potential to be a strong encounter. A brief staredown took place before the match began, with both men attempting the scout the other. Orton tried to end things early with the RKO, but the Lone Wolf countered and slowed down the pace.
Hard-hitting strikes made up the early portion of the contest, with both men pulling out their big moves towards the close. At one point Corbin and Orton were down and out on the mat, which in turn brought out Dean Ambrose. Standing on top of a forklift, the Lunatic Fringe distracted Corbin long enough for Orton to hit the RKO for the win. After the match, Ambrose accepted Lone Wolf’s challenge for a match at WrestleMania.
