WWE WrestleMania 33: 25 Greatest Moments in WrestleMania History

24. Shane Falls Off The Cell (WrestleMania 32)
Shane McMahon’s return to WWE in 2016 surprised the majority of the WWE Universe. While initially well received, it was honestly kind of a mess by the time WrestleMania rolled around.
Shane made his comeback to try and take control of Raw from his father and sister. To back up his claim, he threatened to release a “lockbox” of Vince’s secrets if his demands were not met. The end result was an agreement to a match of Vince’s choosing at WrestleMania 32. If Shane won, he would get control of Raw, but the secrets he threatened to reveal would remain a secret.
Vince chose Shane’s opponent to be The Undertaker, and further stated that the match would be inside Hell in a Cell. From the second the match was announced, wrestling fans everywhere had visions of Shane dropping from the top of the cell. He had a long history of crazy stunts in and around the ring, for better or worse, so it was a logical assumption.
The match itself was not good. The Undertaker’s best days are long past, and Shane hadn’t competed in nearly seven years. Taker dominated most of the match, but Shane wouldn’t quit.
As expected, the match spilled outside the cell, leading to Undertaker being laid prone on the announce table. Shane, again as expected, scaled to the top of the cage and attempted to drop an elbow to put Taker away. But the Deadman moved, and Shane crashed through the table.
Shane would lose the match, but still end up getting put in charge because Vince is crazy, I guess. So the big match meant absolutely nothing, which hurts this moment’s placement a bit – but it was still a crazy sight to see.
